Step by step: Frankenstein costume for Halloween

Once again the most terrifying night of the year arrives , in which not only children dress up as dark characters, but also adults. Although the purpose of Halloween is to have fun with friends and family, making a scary costume is also part of the party.

At PregDream we tell you step by step how to dress your child or yourself with an original, but at the same time a great classic Frankenstein costume this Halloween.

FIRST STEP: THE COSTUMES

It is a mainly male costume, as the protagonist of the horror movie Frankenstein is a man. There is a much more similar Frankenstein woman costume, but we will focus on the costume for men , step by step. However, there is no problem if a girl or woman decides to adapt this costume for men by giving it a more feminine touch.

Thus, the clothes that this horror character classically wears are: dress pants , usually dark blue or black, a dark maroon or light brown cotton T-shirt with a round neck and a regular cut blazer (with many shoulder pads). The jacket is the star wardrobe of this costume, so make sure you get one that is a couple of sizes larger than what you should wear and add shoulder pads (if you feel like it) to create a squarer shoulder effect like those in Frankenstein. Remember that the cut of the jacket has to be straight , since if it is too fitted, the essence of the character will be lost.

The color of the jacket must be khaki green , light brown or gray is also accepted. As it is a clothing that has to look old , you can get second-hand clothes or clothes from your grandparents which will probably be large, they will have a worn effect and a straighter cut than we are used to today. While the clothing has to look old and worn, it does not have to be torn for this costume . Many other Halloween costumes will require slitting and staining of clothing, but this is not one of them.

HAIR AND MAKEUP

The best way to recreate this costume is to buy a special Frankenstein Halloween wig.

This one is very different from a regular wig in that it has a squarer shape at the temples that makes your forehead appear taller and more square . This wig will normally be made of plastic and silicone and will have a part that simulates the skin of your temples and black hair with a straight cut.

YOU CAN PUT ON ALL THE SCARS YOU WANT

Finally, with a black pencil we will paint a long stripe on the forehead with some horizontal lines simulating a sewn cut. We can paint more of these scars sewn on the neck or hands if we feel like it in order to emphasize the costume.
