Teach your children to be more optimistic
Pessimistic thoughts make us stagnate and not move forward, so we must teach our children to see the world from a positive perspective.
Can you make your child more optimistic? Optimism, or the conviction that things will work out in the end, is a cornerstone that helps in the recovery process of people and is necessary to achieve any type of success. There is research that shows that optimists who achieve success enjoy the path more than the goal thanks to discovering the positive . They are less likely to get depressed , frustrated, ill, and can have longer relationships and live longer. And for this, all parents in the world want our children to be optimistic.

OPTIMISM, INHERITANCE OR LEARNED?
But the first thing you should keep in mind is that if you want your child’s life to have enough optimism, you should be his best example to follow. Children need the best example in their parents. When life makes you go through difficult times, it will be you who teaches your child to believe that things can improve. Otherwise, why should your child be optimistic or think that they can move on?
There is some evidence that optimism is an inherited trait , so we know that there is a biological basis for being optimistic, just as there may be in people who suffer from depression. But there is also important evidence that people, and children, learn at an early age how to see the world and discover the potential we have. If a person has a tendency to see things negatively, it will be easier for them to interpret things negatively.
People can change the way they talk to themselves, because the way a person talks to themselves can have an impact on themselves, emotional reactions, and daily experiences. So optimism, even if a person has more or less tendency to be, can always learn it to get the most out of himself.
But once we know everything described so far, how can you teach a child to be more optimistic? And taking into account that the first step is to be the best example of optimism before daily and adverse situations, do not miss out on other very effective techniques.
OBSERVE YOUR CHILD’S THINKING
You need to be aware of whether your child sees the glass as half full or half empty. When something bad happens your child will tend to see things one way or another. If your child is pessimistic, do not worry because you can teach him to be optimistic by teaching him some techniques.
But if you notice that your child’s thinking is negative, the last thing you should do is blame yourself or think that because of you, how you are or because of the education you have given your child, your child has ended up being pessimistic. Your thoughts should be positive from the beginning and that means that instead of thinking that your child is pessimistic, look for ways to increase his optimism and positive thinking with your help, your love and all your support.
STAND UP TO PESSIMISM
Pessimistic or negative thoughts in both children and adults can define how things are expected to happen or that only bad things are expected to happen. Pessimistic people think catastrophically and positive thinking seems like a challenge. For example, a pessimistic child might say things like: “No one from the new school is going to like me, so I won’t make friends and I’ll be left alone.” In order to face pessimism, it is necessary to remember that things always happen, that things do not always go where we would like them to go and that victimhood is never a good option.
TEACH CHILDREN OPTIMISM
The trick is to remember that you also perceive things in the environment in one way or another and that you need to be optimistic for your child to learn that behavior. Also, help your child to choose to perceive setbacks as something that is temporary and isolated and not as something personal, it will always be in his power to fix things to feel better internally.
The reality is that some things that happen that are bad could have happened to anyone. In many cases, it is evident that what happens does not mark how a person is, nothing is indicated about who I hope, the way in which they chose to act. For example, if a child does not pass a test, it has nothing to do with bad luck or because he is incapable and he did not study enough for that test.
It is very important to help the children to make him see that he cannot do anything in some situations and instead he can do in others. It is better to know what to do when a person is faced with different situations. It is very important that your child learns to answer to himself the following question: “Is it possible that there is some way to change the result with a little effort?”
STOP NEGATIVE THINKING
The problem when trying to face inner thinking is when you only have negative thoughts and the person thinks it is true. You need to deal with this type of thinking in a three-step process:
1. Identify negative thinking
2. Externalize the thought and put it in doubt
3. Discuss that negative thought as if someone else had it, what would you say?
People have the ability to dispute what other people do and we can learn to do it with ourselves to achieve good results and thus know what is the best we can do.
This is a small guide for you to teach your child to be able to start thinking with positive thoughts and that in this way he can live his life with more joy and more happiness. Having a negative thought will only make the glass always look half empty when in fact it is half full , we decide! So do not hesitate to transmit to your child all the power he has to change things in his life.
