What to do if your child gets sick on vacation
Sometimes when we go on vacation our young children can catch an infection or become ill, we explain what to do.
Finally, the time for the long-awaited summer holidays has arrived! All year round organizing this getaway, counting the days on the calendar until the date arrives and, suddenly, our children get sick. Diseases do not understand dates or summer vacations so we have to deal with this situation.
If we run into this situation, we will have to carry an arsenal of medicines so that our little one or our little one can spend the holidays in the best possible way, but what if they get sick during our trip? They say that a cautious woman is worth two, so it is better that in your luggage you carry a small first-aid kit with basic medicines in case our little one gets sick.
Bring plasters, lotion for insect bites, some medicine with paracetamol or even some candy or pill to avoid seasickness on the way to the destination, they are essential in a first-aid kit when we go on trips with children.
Not having everything under control can cause our little one to be sick. Although this will not cause serious illnesses in our child, the most common in summer are the following.
– Sunstroke: not protecting our children from the sun enough can cause sunstroke that will cause temperature changes, including fever, and general discomfort, such as headaches or eyes.
– Conjunctivitis: swimming and diving in pools where many people have bathed can create the development of conjunctivitis in our little one. When we see our child with irritated, red eyes, an increase in the amount of his tears or a discharge of a white, yellowish or greenish substance, we have to take action. The most effective solution against conjunctivitis is to keep the area very clean and rinse with chamomile.
– Fungi: another of the common diseases in our children in summer are fungi , both on the feet and on other parts of the body. When we keep the same wet or humid area for a long time, it is common for the dreaded fungi to appear. Also not wearing well protected feet can cause our child to suffer from fungus.
– Gastroenteritis: excess food with fat, water, or the typical food of other countries to which our culture is not used to can cause problems in our children in their digestion and in their stomach such as gastroenteritis or diarrhea. If this happens to us, it is best to always keep our little one well hydrated so that he does not suffer dehydration.

WHEN CHILDREN GET SICK ABROAD
Traveling to other countries is one of the most common choices among Spaniards. Having everything under control is the only way that, in the event that our little one is ill abroad, we can solve it quickly.
If it is a country compatible with Spanish public health, we will not have many problems abroad with our sick child, since we will follow the same process that we follow here in Spain. With your doctor’s card and the social security or private insurance card, we can access the health of the country in which we are.
But in the opposite case, if the country to which we travel does not have an agreement with the Spanish health, we will have to have a little more patience. To have as few problems as possible, you must bring the updated vaccination certificate, on the other hand, your insurance policy, the Spanish health card and a medical report.
Enjoying summer vacations abroad is our goal when we decide to travel outside of Spain, so it is very important that we keep everything under control and that we think about those situations that may happen to us abroad and solve them as soon as possible.
