What are the stages of growth in children
The stages of growth in children are four. Take good note of each of them and their characteristics.
Many parents worry excessively when it comes to their child’s growth. Today it is quite normal to compare your own children with others to see if they measure more or less than it should. Comparison is not advisable as it can end up hurting the little one . Parents should bear in mind that each child has its own growth rate and should not be compared with others. During the first years of life the child will have a fairly rapid increase in height and its growth will vary according to each one. In this way, it must be indicated that there are four stages of growth in children that we detail below.

ACCELERATED GROWTH STAGE
The first phase of growth in babies is called the accelerated growth stage. The average height of boys at birth is 49.9 cm while in the case of girls it is 49.1 cm. The normal thing is that during the first year of life the baby triples its birth weight and grows about 25 cm more. During the first months of life, growth increases and slows down as they approach one year of age. The average indicates that by one year the baby should measure about 75 cm more or less.
TRANSITION STAGE
The transitional stage occurs when the child turns two years old. From the second year the child should grow about 12 cm on average, although it can vary to not be a uniform growth. Estimates indicate that in the second year the child will grow half the first year . From the third year the child grows an average of 8 cm, so growth will slow down considerably.
SLOW GROWTH STAGE
The third phase is called slow growth and as its name suggests, the child’s growth slows down. Between 3 and 4 years of age the child will grow an average of 7 cm. From here the growth stabilizes and is maintained slowly. Between 4 and 5 years the average is 6 cm and from 6 years of age the average is 4 cm. Both in this stage and in the previous ones there are a series of factors that will influence the child’s growth, such as diet, diseases, genetics or the exercise that the child usually does.
PUBERTY
Puberty is the last phase of growth for children and the most important for them as they pass from child to adolescence. At puberty there is a significant growth acceleration and the child undergoes a maturation process. From the age of 12, the child’s body undergoes important changes, especially in relation to its sexual organs. Puberty comprises about 6 years and in it the boy, in addition to changing with respect to his growth , will suffer a gain of kilos close to 30. According to studies, boys can grow about 12 cm a year while girls can grow about 9 cm a year.
These are the 4 phases of growth in any child, from which there will be some who will grow more and others who will grow less . Parents therefore should not be obsessed with height since each child is different and it is useless to compare them with other children.
