What color do I choose for my daughter’s room, should it be out of the ordinary?
When we are going to give our daughter her first space of her own, her room, we must take into account the wide range of colors that are available, not just pink!
When starting to create your daughter’s personal space , it is important to understand that, although it may seem like a simple and minor process, it is the opposite. When you develop the concept of your girl’s room, you are giving her some brushstrokes for her first steps in life. Colors are deeply ingrained in our culture and each one conveys a symbolism. But beyond the symbols, the important thing is, what do we want to transmit to our daughter? The color pink has always been closely linked to girls, but let’s think that applying pink as a color for all of them is like thinking that a size L of clothes will be valid for all girls. It is a stereotype that must be broken and that is why in this article we discuss other possible colors for the little girl’s room. Of course, if what you want is pink because it is a color that you like and you think it fits your girl, go ahead, but you can always consider other options.

BLUE
To start with, we can use blue. I want to try this color first because it is the opposite of the room color stereotype for girls. When you have a child, the clothes are blue, the room is blue and, of course, its essence is blue. But, don’t you think blue is a pretty color for anyone? The azure blue is light , pleasant and cozy. Actually, except for very intense colors, we can apply a wide variety of colors to the room, so the first thing we have to do is leave the molds outside because we are going to create a unique room that represents something new for a new life.
Not everything is the color of the wall. You must take into account a very important factor and that is that the room in addition to the color of the walls can be accompanied by furniture that has color. What do I mean? We can leave the walls with a neutral color such as broken white or beige and then make a contrast through the furniture with colors such as red, blue, green etc. Even carpets or windows can have a different color to the wall. This in a way makes the space cozy and also attracts attention.
It is true that in the first months this may not be so important , but keep in mind that, from the age of two, girls begin to pay much more attention to colors and that is when they develop (in certain cases) their first memories.
GREY
Another possible color would be gray that is often forgotten since society has it embedded in a sad color. But the reality is that it is a very grateful color when decorating the room since it combines very well with bright colors such as red, orange or green. In addition, the wall does not have to be completely gray, but we can opt for a white and gray striped style. In this way, it gives it a creative touch and we banish forever the idea that gray is a negative color. We can even combine it with purple giving it a more feminine touch if we want. We don’t have to banish purple or pink colors either .
POLKA DOTS AND STRIPES
On the other hand, we have moles . There was a time when they moved away from the focus of the parents, but I think it brings a lot of play when decorating as well as making the space more welcoming. The wall will not only be the accompaniment of the furniture, but it will become the protagonist. If we do not want to give this effect, we can always use polka dots on a carpet.
Stripes are also included in this section and not only on the wall but also on carpets as they combine very well with prints. You must stop the fear of mixing , the beauty of making a room is trying all the possible mixtures without taking too much account of what has been carried throughout life. The important thing is that you like it, so all these points are not tips but brushstrokes to awaken your creativity and create a brainstorm.
ROOM FOR MORE THAN ONE
Another idea that I am going to give is that of shared rooms . Maybe if the girl is a baby it is not a good idea, but once she has grown a little, sharing a room gives a lot since the concept of color is divided for the two boys or girls. That is, you will look for something that suits both members of the family and that will make it much easier for you to reach a decision since in these cases it tends to neutral colors and, above all, to decorated furniture.
For example, if it is a small room , I would choose the off-white walls since they look great if we decorate the wall with shelves (of various colors) or paintings. The beds decorated with cheerful bedspreads that invite you to get inside, with colorful cushions (that match the sheets) and stuffed animals. Under the two beds, a colorful carpet that will not disappoint since the floor will be made of wood.
That is, the good thing about white walls as you can see is that they leave a lot of freedom to play with the furniture and add color to them. If we put a color with more personality on the wall, the furniture can no longer be of many varied colors as it can overwhelm.
I hope these tips have helped you not as a perfect guide but as a promoter of your own ideas and remember that the important thing is to know how to balance the load of the colors on the wall with the furniture and know how to combine them. The rest will not be a problem since the important thing in the realization of a new room is to have a good time in the process and be comfortable with the result. Forget the colors of a lifetime or on the contrary, choose a color like off-white and innovate with it. Surprise yourselves.
