Voluntary paid vaccines, should I get them or not?
In Spain there are a series of vaccines that are not mandatory in babies and are not covered by Social Security, so many parents do not know if it is dangerous not to take them.
Being parents is not an easy task, children do not come with an instruction book under their arm, and there are certain occasions when a simple decision can change the life of our baby . One of those crucial moments in which a father or mother has to make a very important and relevant decision in the life of their child is, when at two months of age, the pediatrician talks to you for the first time about paid vaccines or voluntary vaccines.

WHAT ARE PAID OR VOLUNTARY VACCINES?
Surely if you are reading this article it is because you are in a sea of doubts about what to do with respect to paid vaccines. Well, from PregDream we are going to give you all the details.
Each country makes its own annual calendar on which vaccines are included in public health and which are not. That is, they make a calendar about which are free and which are paid. In Spain, there are three vaccines that do not fall within the vaccination calendar financed by social security , which will cause parents to choose whether to vaccinate their children or not, depending on what they decide.
WHAT ARE THE PAID VACCINES IN SPAIN?
In Spain we have three vaccines that are not financed by social security. And, although these will cost the parents money and are considered less important according to the state, the absence of them can cause quite serious diseases in our baby.
Pneumococcus is a bacterium that mainly affects the little ones. This is responsible for diseases such as pneumonia, otitis media, sinusitis and meningitis. The Spanish Association of Pediatrics recommends the application of this vaccine to our baby in the period between 2 months and 5 years, since between 13 and 107 children out of 100,000 contract pneumococcus every year. This is administered in four doses, at two, four, six and twelve months. The price of each dose is around 75 euros and, although it can be quite an effort in some cases, it is highly recommended to vaccinate our baby against pneumococcus. In the event that our little one has a reaction to this, it is always pain, redness or local inflammation and, in some cases, a low fever.
Chickenpox is another of the vaccines that do not fall within the vaccination schedule financed by the state and therefore, it is considered another of the voluntary vaccines. VaricellaIt is one of the diseases that occurs most among children under 10 years of age, and is that its ease of contagion causes it to spread very quickly. This is carried out in two different phases and according to the Spanish Association of Pediatrics it is recommended to carry out the first dose of vaccination at 12 months, and the second at 2 or 3 years. This is applied through the subcutaneous route and, although it does not usually cause problems or side effects in children, on some occasions cases of localized pain or inflammation have been observed at the site of the puncture, and in very few cases it has led to fever mild or small rashes on the child’s skin. The price of each dose ranges between 45 and 60 euros.
Finally, the rotavirus vaccine is another of the voluntary vaccines that do not fall within the vaccination schedule subsidized by social security and that it is highly recommended that our children receive it. Rotavirus is a highly contagious disease consisting of acute gastroenteritis , which can lead to vomiting, causing the death of our baby due to dehydration. According to the AEP, all children should be vaccinated against rotavirus before they reach 26 weeks, since it is the ideal stage for it. This consists of three different doses, through oral route and each one has a price that ranges between 60 and 70 euros.
Vaccinating our children or not, in these cases, can become a real headache but always remember that health comes first in life.
