WHAT IS SELECTIVITY?
The selectivity is made up of two parts :
– The first is the general phase , composed of common subjects such as Spanish Language and Literature, Foreign Language (usually English), History of Spain or History of Philosophy (free choice of the student) and a subject of the modality. It is necessary that the average of the 4 exams of the general phase has an average higher than 4 , otherwise, the selectivity will be considered the failed selectivity, regardless of the grade of the specific phase. Each exam is weighted with 0.1, up to a total of 0.4, that is, 40% of the final grade that will be obtained. To this note, it will be necessary to add the first and second grade of high school, weighted with 0.6. Thus we can reach a total of 10 points, however, there are races that ask for more than 10, for this we resort to the specific phase.
SELECTIVITY IS DIVIDED INTO TWO PARTS: GENERAL AND SPECIFIC
HOW TO START STUDYING?
As soon as they finish the final high school exams, it is recommended that they rest for a couple of days, and that they organize their own study plan , which adapts to their schedules. It is preferable to use the first hours of the morning to study, with breaks of between ten or fifteen minutes every two hours. You will have to sacrifice going out on party weekends, but do not stop going out to eat something from time to time, or go to the movies to clear your mind and avoid stress . Carrying out activities outside the study helps relax the brain, allowing a better assimilation of the concepts studied.
REST AND RELAXATION ARE IMPORTANT
Sleeping eight hours a day is an essential requirement to relieve tension and accumulated stress. Study overload does not favor learning , since memorization follows the law of diminishing returns, that is, there comes a point where studying for one more hour does not help to get more marks, but rather it begins to forget what learned, and increase nerves, stress, tension … For this reason it is necessary to have well defined schedules in which young people can feel at ease and calm .
Helping to create a study environment is something necessary so that our children can pass the exams in the best possible way. It is very important not to push them too hard, but not to allow them to leave the study until the last day. We know that June is a great month to go out. In fact, it is not a bad idea for young people to go out to study in the park from time to time, but this should not be the most frequent. The library is the perfect place to stay focused . The atmosphere is perfect, there is no noise and you can always get information if you have any questions. But our son may prefer to study at home. In that case, you must study in somesilent room, without any element that can distract you, and of course never in front of a television .
CAFFEINE IS NOT THE BEST SOLUTION TO PERFORM MORE
Many times young people end up unhinged over something they don’t understand. It is important to help them as much as possible, and always encourage them not to get depressed . Numerous studies reveal that psychological motivation plays a very important role in student success, in fact, 60% of the grade is due to the optimism and confidence obtained.
WHAT SHOULD THEY EAT AT EXAM TIME?
The food is another important point to consider at the time of testing students. Our neurons feed exclusively on glucose, so it is necessary to take high amounts, but be careful! Do not abuse buns or too many sweets, it is preferable to take a lot of fruit, 5 pieces a day would be ideal.
The Mediterranean diet should be more basic than ever in these times . A good diet is the basis for maintaining the necessary energy. First of all, our children should have a full breakfast, orange juice is ideal, along with cereals, cookies and toast. Try to eat between 5 and 6 meals a day, so the body will be able to better assimilate the nutrients. In addition, we should not replace complete meals with fast food such as hamburgers or pizzas. And above all avoid drinking coffee or caffeinated drinks to stay awake . As we have commented, it is necessary to sleep the necessary hours, and not force the body. In addition, caffeinated beverages make concentration difficult, increasing nerves and tension.
IT IS NECESSARY TO TAKE A SHORT BREAK EVERY TWO HOURS
Many hours of study accompanied by good relaxation and motivation, that is the key to get the desired grade , and that our children can build the future they have always wanted.
